A reflection on how you work.

Reflection, worth every minute.

How you reach conclusions, how you approach problems, where your energy comes from and where you're heading — you answer these questions at work every day, not always consciously. The result gives you the language to name those answers.

ProType

One of sixteen patterns, built from four dimensions that shape how you work.

Dimensions

Your way of thinking, your approach to problems, your source of energy, your ambition. They show how you work and how you collaborate with others.

Cooperation

Everyone works differently, and misunderstandings come from not recognizing those differences. The map below shows how to communicate with people who approach work differently.

Two dimensions, four cognitive stances.

A Mode is the intersection of the first two dimensions: Thinking and Approach to Problems. Each Mode holds four ProTypes that share the same cognitive stance.

DIRFIRGIRHIR

A Mode shows how someone thinks and acts. A ProType adds where their energy comes from and what they focus on.

Now find yourself on it.

ProType is not you. It's your working style.

A personality test.

A reflection tool that shows you how to think about your work style. A language you understand.

A selection tool.

Not for hiring, promotion, performance review, or team composition. It helps you understand yourself. The rest is your call.

A label.

It shows the dominant pattern. How you think, how you solve problems, and where your energy comes from don't change.

Frequently asked questions

Your answers are stored only so we can calculate your profile and generate your report. They aren't used to train any AI model. They aren't shared with third parties. You can complete the test without giving an email — the address is optional, only needed if you want the report sent to your inbox. You can request deletion of your data at any time.

Mostly, no — and that's the honest answer. How you think, how you approach problems, and where your energy comes from are stable dispositions, not moods. You can learn to work against them when a role demands it, and you get more versatile with experience, but you don't flip from one pole to the other.

What can move a result is narrower than "you changed":

  • If you took this early in your career, your Expert–Builder orientation may not have settled yet. It takes roughly five to ten years of real choices to show clearly, so an early result is a starting point.
  • If your current role pushes you hard against your grain, the result can read shifted toward the role rather than toward you. Leaving that role doesn't change who you are — it lets the reading settle back.
  • A score that sat near a band edge can land one side one time and the other the next. That's the coarseness of a short self-reflection tool, not a real change in you.

So we don't recommend retaking on a fixed schedule. Retake if you were early in your career when you did it, if you've just come out of a role that didn't fit, or if something significant has genuinely shifted in your work — not because your style is expected to drift each year.

ProType draws on four established research traditions in work psychology: Pacini and Epstein on cognitive style, Kirton on adaption-innovation, work on extraversion in the workplace, and Schein on career anchors. Full sources are on /methodology. That said, ProType is not a measurement validated for employment decisions. It is a research-informed reflection tool. We consider that distinction important and state it plainly.
No. Your result is only available to you. You can choose to share it with someone (for example, your manager in a 1:1), but no one has access to it without an action on your part.

Everyone has a ProType.Time to find yours.
